DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Evangel softball team got a pair of home runs in game two Tuesday afternoon for a 10-3 win after falling in game one, 6-3, at league-leading Clarke in conference action.

An early lead from Clarke was too much for Evangel to overcome in game one as the home team opened the bottom of the first with a five-run inning.

Evangel would try to chip away with three runs in the top of the second inning; however, Clarke held EU scoreless over the final five innings for a 6-3 win.

Michaela Tolliver scattered eight hits and was charged with all six runs as Clarke benefited from two home runs.

Taylor Kister belted a home run for Evangel to finish 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Caitlin Buckalew drove in the other Evangel run with a RBI double.

In the second game, Evangel jumped out to an early lead with a four-run first inning. Evangel added another run in the fourth and another in the fifth before Clarke cut the lead in half in the bottom of the fifth.

However, Evangel responded with a grand slam from Alison Davis in the top of the sixth to bust the game back open as she was 1-for-4 with four RBIs. Caitlin Buckalew also homered to finish 2-for-3 with two RBIs in the second game. The home runs are the third of the season for both Davis and Buckalew

Kyra Parker earned the win going five innings and striking out two while allowing just two walks. Parker improved to 11-5 on the season as Taylor Kister pitched the final two innings of relief.

Michelle Sheppard went 3-for-3 at the plate and Cassidy Gillihan was 3-for-4 with a RBI as Evangel out-hit Clarke, 14-8.

Kister also finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and a RBI. Lauren Chambers joined Kister, Sheppard and Buckalew with multiple hits going 2-for-4.
