SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – The Evangel men's basketball team knocked down 17 three-pointers to get into the win column Saturday evening with a 95-82 victory over Bacone College in the John Brown Classic.
The Crusaders jumped out to a 50-39 lead at halftime after shooting 53 percent from behind the three-point line. Evangel dominated the glass out-rebounding the Warriors 49-32 in the game and scored 21 points off turnovers to Bacone's six.
Senior Dylan Bekemeier and junior Luke Call were hot from distance, as Call knocked down seven three-pointers and Bekemeier added five. Call's seven was three shy of the Evangel single-game record as he finished with 21 points and Bekemeier added a game-high 22 points.
Evangel as a team made 17 three-pointers as Clark Brewington added a trio to finish with 15 points and Justin Washington earned a double-double. Washington battled foul trouble to finish with 12 points and 12 rebounds in the win.
Bacone was led by Kevin Pritchett who finished with 21 points and nine boards for the Warriors.
Evangel takes almost a week off before heading downtown Springfield for a matchup against Missouri State. The Crusaders and Bears will meet for the first time since the 1985-86 season as tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. from JQH Arena.
