Men’s Basketball Drops Nonconference Matchup at Missouri State

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel University fell Friday night, 80-48, at NCAA Division I Missouri State in non-conference college basketball action at JQH Arena.

The Crusaders bounced back in the second half after a slow start and trailing 42-23 at halftime. Missouri State showed its length and size difference holding a 50-29 rebounding edge in the game.

Evangel picked up 19 points from Justin Washington with 11 coming in the second half. Washington also led the Crusaders in rebounding with six boards.

Dylan Bekemeier finished with eight points as Jalen Norman and Luke Call each added six points each.

Missouri State was led by Jarred Dixon with 13 points while Obediah Church, J.T. Miller, and Reggie Scurry all finished in double figures with 10 points. Church added a double-double with 10 boards for the Bears.

Evangel opens Heart of America Athletic Conference play on Wednesday as they travel to Graceland. Tipoff from Lamoni, Iowa, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
