Des Moines, Iowa – A tip-in at the buzzer by Clark Brewington helped Evangel come out on top 75-73 at Grand View with an exciting Heart finish.
Evangel took the lead 73-71 with under 30 seconds left after a pair of free throws from Justin Washington. Washington scored a game-high 22 points and pulled down nine boards for the Crusaders.
Grand View would answer less than 15 seconds later after Jordan Tanner finished an and-1 opportunity to tie the game with 22 seconds left.
However, the Crusaders would answer the call this time.
Luke Call missed a three-point shot from the left wing, but Brewington tipped in the weak-side rebound as time expired to give Evangel the win. Brewington finished with 12 points in the win.
Evangel was able to overcome a hot shooting night by Grand View forcing 17 turnovers while only committing 11. Evangel has now won three straight against the Vikings after picking up its first road win of the season.
The Crusaders return to Springfield on Wednesday night to host Benedictine. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. inside the Ashcroft Center.
