OSKALOOSA, Iowa – A pair of second-half goals from Maya Davidson helped lift the Evangel women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over William Penn in the Heart of America Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

Davidson scored her first goal of the season in the 50th minute, as Alyson Reinold crossed the ball to the middle of the field for the finish. The assist was the seventh of the season for Reinold, who leads the NAIA in assists.

Ashley Ard pushed her second goal of the season into the net in the 57th minute off a pass from Kennedy Strain. The goal gave Evangel a 2-0 lead as they continued to pressure the net.

In the 61st minute, Davidson scored her second goal of the game to give Evangel a 3-0 lead. Strain was credited with the assist for her second of the match.

Josie Gregory finished with five saves in net for Evangel, facing nine shots and five on goal. The Crusaders as a team tallied 20 shots with 10 coming on goal.

Evangel returns home for Heart action Tuesday, Sept. 19 against Central Methodist. Action is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
