Evangel Baseball Announces 2018 Schedule

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel University baseball team has announced its 2018 spring schedule under third-year head coach Russell Brand.

The Crusaders will again begin their season in Texas with a pair of double-headers Feb. 2-3 against Texas A&M-Texarkana. Evangel will make its home debut Feb. 8 with a double-header against Bacone College from Oklahoma.

Non-conference opponents for the Crusaders also include McPherson College, Concordia (Neb.), Jamestown and College of the Ozarks before starting conference play. All but McPherson will travel to Springfield and give the Crusaders a heavy home schedule during the early portion of the season.

Heart of America Athletic Conference action begins in Springfield as well, when Evangel hosts Grand View on March 9 followed by a doubleheader against Peru State on March 10.

Heart South Division play begins March 16-17 at Crusader Field in a four-game series against Avila. Defending Heart Champion, MidAmerica Nazarene will also travel to Springfield, March 30-31 for a four-game series with the Crusaders.

Evangel will once again host the Heart Postseason Tournament at US Baseball Park in Ozark, Missouri. Tournament play begins May 2-6 as the Pioneers knocked off the regular-season champion, Clarke twice to advance to the NAIA National Tournament.
