SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel baseball team battled MidAmerica Nazarene to a series split Saturday winning game one 4-3 before a 17-1 loss in game two.
Hargus doubled home a pair of runners as Jordan Yates reached on an error with two outs to keep the inning alive. Bradshaw would follow Hargus and place a ball down the right-field line to score the game-winning run.
Both starting pitchers cruised through the first three innings before MidAmerica Nazarene scored a run in the fourth inning. The Pioneers would add two more in the fifth inning on a home run before Evangel got on the board in the bottom of the sixth.
Derek Kennell got the win going seven innings, striking out five and walking three.
Hargus and Gabe Franklin each finished with two hits as the Crusaders out-hit the Pioneers 8-5.
The second game saw MidAmerica Nazarene break open for five runs in the second and four more in the third inning to build a 10-1 lead.
The Pioneers would add another run in the fourth and two more in the fifth to score in each of the first five innings.
Patrick Gaul extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a base hit in the sixth inning but was left on base.
Evangel used six pitchers in the game as Bret Hoffman was handed the loss.
Evangel heads to Graceland on Tuesday for a Heart North Division double header. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
