ATCHISON, Kan. -- The Evangel offense was unable to keep pace with Benedictine on Saturday falling twice, 1-0 and 5-1 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference South Division.
Despite out-hitting Benedictine in the first game Evangel was unable to come up with a run falling 1-0. Both teams left six runners on base, but it was a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning by the Ravens that proved to be the game's only run.
Bryan Adames went six innings and allowed just three hits, but earned the loss as the home run from Benedictine was the game's only offense. Adames struck out eight and walked three in the loss.
A rally in game two came up short for Evangel as Benedictine held on to an early lead to finish a sweep of the Crusaders.
The Ravens earned a run in the bottom of the first and then added two more in the fourth to lead 3-1 before Evangel got on the board in the fifth. A two-out single from Harrison Stevens scored Patrick Gaul for the Crusaders only run on the day.
Loge was hit for two more runs in the seventh as the Ravens lead increased to 5-1.
Evangel returns home Tuesday to face Park University in non-conference mid-week action. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
