Evangel Football Moves to No. 23 in NAIA Top 25

KANSAS CITY, Mo. –The Evangel football team moved up to No. 23 in Monday's NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll released by the organization.

Evangel defeated Avila on Saturday, 34-14, to improve to 4-0 in the Heart South Division and 7-3 overall. The Crusaders broke into the Top 25 last week after a shutout of Missouri Valley who upset formerly No. 2 Baker.

After last week's loss, Baker fell to No. 7, one spot behind Heart North Division Champion Grand View at No. 6. Heart South Division runner-up Benedictine fell to No. 15 after last week's loss to Grand View. Saint Francis last year's national champion continues to hold the top spot in the poll.

Evangel hosts No. 7 Baker this Saturday for Senior Day and a chance to win the Heart South Division outright. The title would be the first for Evangel since the 2005 season. Kickoff at Tiger Stadium in Ozark, Mo., is scheduled for 12 p.m.
