SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A late rally fell short Saturday night for the Evangel men's basketball team, 95-91, to John Brown in non-conference men's basketball action.
The Crusaders lost their fourth game by six or fewer points as the Golden Eagles got late baskets from Jake Caudle to hold on for the win.
Justin Washington led Evangel again in scoring finishing with 32 points and nine boards, narrowly missing a second straight double-double. Washington was 12-of-20 from the free throw line where the Crusaders shot 71 percent.
Both Luke Call and Autry Acord added 12 points as Chandler Lyon also finished in double figures tallying 11 points. Jalen Norman gave the Crusaders a boost on the boards pulling down 11 rebounds while adding six points.
Caulde led all scorers finishing with a game-high 38 points for John Brown. He was an impressive 13-of-19 from the field as teammate Rokas Grabliauskas added 16 points for the Golden Eagles.
Evangel returns to the road Monday night in a men's and women's double-header at Missouri Baptist. Tipoff from St. Louis is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
