SPRINGFIELD, Mo – An efficient offense helped ignite the Evangel men's basketball team over College of the Ozarks, 77-62, in a rematch of the Rib Crib Highway 65 series on Tuesday night.

The Crusaders and Bobcats matched basket for basket for the majority of the first half, but it was Evangel who held an eight-point lead going into the locker room at halftime. The first half saw Evangel shoot 55 percent from the floor and outrebounded the Bobcats 22 to 16.

After an impressive performance of the National Anthem from national recording artist, Voices of Glory, Evangel matched the talented singers with a solid second half.

It was a complete team effort in the second half for the Crusaders, who never lost the lead after intermission. Each player who saw minutes for Evangel played a crucial role helping keep College of the Ozarks at arm's length.

The Bobcats entered the game as the number one team in the country for field goal percentage (53 percent) and three-point shooting (45 percent) for NAIA Division II. However, the Crusader defense was able to hold the Bobcats to just 31 percent from the floor and 16 percent from the three-point line.

Evangel had two players finish with double-doubles. Braden Adams scored 24 points and had 11 rebounds while Justin Washington finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Dylan Bekemeier also finished in double digits in scoring with 12 points and added five assists in the win.

Ethan Davidson led the Bobcats in points with 18 while Calvin Allen added 12 points.

The game also helped raise money in partnership with Evangel athletics and Weller Elementary. Over $900 was raised on the evening that will go toward purchasing winter clothing for students at Weller Elementary.

The Crusaders host defending conference champions, William Penn in Heart of America Athletic Conference action this Saturday. Tipoff scheduled at 4 p.m.
