PERU, Neb. – The Evangel men's basketball team was unable to overcome 21 turnovers Saturday in an 85-79 loss at Peru State in Heart of America Athletic Conference action.

The Crusaders shot 50 percent from behind the three-point line; however, 21 turnovers were too much to overcome in the loss. Peru State turned the ball over just 12 times and outscored Evangel 40-24 in the paint after coming back from a 10-point deficit.

Dylan Bekemeier gave Evangel a chance late as the senior finished with a career-high 31 points on 9-of-12 shooting from behind the three-point line. The Republic, Mo., native was also 10-of-15 from the field.

Justin Washington added a double-double in the loss with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Quantice Hunter led Peru State with 25 points while teammate LJ Westbrook posted 15 points and 10 boards.
