SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Despite scoring in the triple digits for the first time this season, the Evangel men's basketball team was unable to pick up a win Saturday against Culver-Stockton, in a 112-103 shootout.
Offense came in bunches as both teams got off to a hot shooting start. Evangel shot the three ball early and often, draining six three-pointers in the first half alone.
However, the Wildcats were able to keep pace and then some, making eight three-pointers before intermission. The Wildcats 12 assists also played a factor in establishing a 14-point halftime lead.
The Crusaders efficient offense continued after the break. Evangel's Justin Washington scored five of the Crusaders first eight baskets to open the second half. The Wildcat's Bryson London matched Washington basket for basket, as the Crusaders could never pull within more than nine points during the final 20 minutes of play.
Culver-Stockton was led by London who dropped a season-high 37 points. The Wildcats had three other players finish with 18 or more points in the game. The four Wildcats combined for 98 of the teams 112 points.
The Crusaders travel to Fayette, Missouri on Wednesday as they take on conference opponent Central Methodist. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
