DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Evangel men's basketball team came up just short Saturday, 82-77, in the regular season finale at Clarke University.

The Crusaders finish the regular season 8-22, 6-13 in conference play and await the remaining league games to finish on Saturday to determine their first-round opponent. Evangel could travel to either Peru State or Graceland on Monday.

After a slow start, the Crusaders came out blistering hot in the second half shooting 54 percent from the field. Senior Dylan Bekemeier posted his second straight 30-point game as the Republic, Mo., native finished with 31. Bekemeier also crossed the 1,000 point mark for his career reaching 1,022 points.

Fellow senior, Scott Blakeslee added 13 points and four boards for Evangel as Clark Brewington also finished in double figures with 12 points and five rebounds.

Clarke finished 21-of-23 from the free throw line and was led by 26 points from Ernest Bolden. Bolden was a big part of 49 bench points for the Pride.
