OSKALOOSA, Iowa – The Evangel men's basketball team fell at No. 2 William Penn Saturday, 109-73, to open Heart of America Athletic Conference action.
The Crusaders knocked down 11 three-pointers in the loss, however, William Penn hit 18 three-pointers and finished at 56 percent to stay unbeaten. Evangel also was unable to keep pace with the Statesmen on the boards, 49-39 for just the third time this season.
Luke Call led Evangel with 20 points after knocking six three-pointers. Unfortunately, the Crusaders were unable to produce much more offense as Ike Egwu and Edriel Martinborough scored in double figures off the bench with 12 and 10 points respectively.
William Penn was led by Marlon Alcindor who poured in 36 points going 12 of 16 from behind the three-point line.
Evangel returns to the Ashcroft Center on Tuesday to host Central Methodist before Thanksgiving break. Tipoff against the Eagles is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
