DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Evangel men's basketball team was unable to hang on to an early lead Saturday falling 75-68 at Clarke in Heart of America Athletic Conference action.

The Crusaders were looking to snap an eight-game losing streak on Saturday and battled the Pride a full 40 minutes. Evangel led 31-29 at halftime and despite leading Clarke in nearly every statistic, the second half saw both teams' trade baskets early.

Clarke responded at the midpoint in the second half with a 9-1 run and never looked back. Evangel kept the Pride within reach as neither team led by more than nine points.

Freshman, Cade Coffman led the Crusaders with 18 points and four rebounds, while Clark Brewington added 11 points and Jacob Smith chipped in 10 points.

Pavel Antonov pulled down 10 boards and finished with six points in the loss.

Clarke was led by 21 points from Ernest Bolden, Jr.

Evangel returns home next Saturday to host Mount Mercy in Heart of America Action. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
