SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel men's basketball team led from start to finish Wednesday night capping a 70-66 victory over Culver-Stockton in Heart of America Athletic Conference action.

The Crusaders finished the season sweep of the Wildcats, who currently sit in fifth place in the league standings. Thanks to a strong start, Evangel jumped out to a 12-point lead after shooting 43 percent in the first half and holding Culver-Stockton to just 9-of-28 shooting.

A late charge by Culver-Stockton forced Evangel to hold on, but Chris Stock, AJ Green and Jacob Smith made clutch free throws to preserve the victory.

Edriel Martinborough led Evangel in scoring with a season-high 17 points as Clark Brewington added 11 points. Stocks finished with five assists and seven points in the win.

Mike Johnson led Culver-Stockton with 34 points before fouling out in the final minute.

Evangel returns to Iowa on Saturday to face Mount Mercy in a 2 p.m. tipoff.
