CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Evangel men's basketball team was unable to keep pace with a hot-shooting Mount Mercy squad Saturday falling 106-81 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play.

The Crusaders managed to hold the Mustangs, the nation's top three-point shooting team, to just nine three-pointers in the loss. It was the third lowest total of the season for Mount Mercy, however, the Mustangs came out hot shooting 56 percent from the field in the first half while Evangel shot 36 percent.

Evangel also managed just four three-pointers in the game as Clark Brewington went 3-of-9 from behind the arc and led the team with 20 points. Chris Stocks also finished in double figures adding 17 points.

Cade Coffman was shy of a double-double tallying eight points and 13 rebounds. Jacob Smith added 10 points for the Crusaders off the bench as well.

Mount Mercy was led by Dennis McKinney who scored a game-high 25 points.

Evangel continues road action Wednesday at No. 3 Benedictine who sits atop the league standings at 18-0. Tipoff from Atchison, Kansas is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
