SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Evangel men's basketball team fell at home on Saturday afternoon, 98-67, to hot-shooting Grand View University in Heart of America Athletic Conference action.
The Crusaders fell behind early, but a trio of three-pointers from Jake Smith pulled Evangel even at 12-12. However, the Vikings went on a 12-4 run to regain the lead while shooting 70 percent from the field building a 55-37 halftime lead.
Senior Jacob Smith finished with 11 points and four boards as he was responsible for three of the Crusaders' seven three-pointers.
The Vikings also controlled the boards, out-rebounding Evangel 44-28.
Grand View saw Dallis Flowers score a game-high 30 points with 15 coming in each half. Jordan Brunkow also had a hot hand for the Vikings adding 18 first-half points before finishing with 26.
Evangel continues home action Wednesday evening as the Crusaders host Missouri Valley. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. with the fourth annual Weller Elementary night.
