LSU-Alexandria Shocks Evangel Men’s Soccer in Overtime

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A goal from Ricardo Caliman of LSU-Alexandria in the 93rd minute pushed the visitors past the Evangel men's soccer team, 2-1, in overtime Friday afternoon.

Both teams scored a goal midway through the first half with Keaton Amstutz of Evangel pushed the first goal home. Amstutz scored on a pass from Austin Reinold in the 19th minute before the Generals tied the match in the 27th minute.

Sean French scored for LSUA to tie the game at 1-1 off a pass from Matheus Barrozo.

From there, both teams would remain deadlocked at one until three minutes into overtime. Caliman gathered a loose ball and dribbled to the top of the box as he fired a goal into the corner of the net for the win.

The Generals outshot Evangel 20-4 in the match and 9-2 in the second half.  

Josiah Dinwiddie tallied eight saves for the Crusaders with four in each half.

Evangel continues home action Tuesday against Central Baptist at Coryell Field. First touch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
