Rally Comes up Short For Evangel Men's Soccer at Williams Baptist

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. -- The Evangel men's soccer team was unable to complete a second-half rally Tuesday evening falling 5-3 at Williams Baptist.

The Crusaders took an early 1-0 lead with Vinicius Albino's header off a corner kick from Drew Flippin gave Evangel the lead in the 38th minute. 

However, Williams Baptist scored early in the second half to tie the match in the 48th minute and then take the lead in the 51st minute. The Eagles led 4-1 before Evangel scored a goal by Caleb Dix when he beat the WBU keeper from 25-yards out.

Albino scored his second goal on an assist from Christian Clardy in the 75th minute to pull Evangel with a goal. 

Williams Baptist would seal the win in the 87th minute to push the lead to 5-3. 

Josiah Dinwiddie recorded three saves in 70 minutes in goal, while Anthony Morales earned four saves in the final 19 minutes of play.


Evangel returns home on Saturday for a final non-conference tuneup against Bethany College. First touch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
