Freshman Shane Burns to Race at National Championships

KANSAS CITY, Mo. –Evangel University freshman, Shane Burns will compete at the 2017 NAIA Cross Country National Championships after a third-place finish at the Heart Championships last Saturday.

Burns, a native of Strafford, Mo., won two races during the season and finished third for Evangel at the Conference Championships over the weekend. His finish was the highest ever for an Evangel freshman and highest since 2014 when Devon Colegrove finished third when the conference was composed of seven teams.

He will join the 36 team, 87 individual field next weekend, November 18, at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site in Vancouver, Wash. The men's 8–kilometer race will begin at 10:30 a.m. PST.

Fans can watch the post-race awards ceremony free beginning at approximately 1 p.m. PST. The national championship event takes place on Nov. 18 in Vancouver, Wash., at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. To access the live video stream of the ceremony and find more information, click here.
