VANCOUVER, Wash. – Evangel University freshman Shane Burns raced to the highest finish at a national championship in Evangel history on Saturday at the NAIA Cross Country National Championships.
Burns finished 61st and covered the 8k course with a time of 25:55 as he finished eighth among freshman. The Strafford, Missouri, native also recorded the fastest time since Nicholas Hestand finished with a time of 25:53 on the same course in 2011.
Mark Shaw of Oklahoma City won the individual title as he finished with a time of 24:09. The highest Heart of America Athletic Conference finisher was Derek Wilson of Missouri Valley who crossed the finish line at 25:17 to finish 24th.
