Fayette, Mo. – Evangel lost both games of a doubleheader at #10 Central Methodist losing game one 9-1 in six innings and game two 8-5.
In game one, Evangel gave up two runs in the bottom of the first and never got back in the game allowing a two-run home run in the third and fifth innings before allowing three runs in the sixth to end the game. Michaela Tolliver got the loss for the Crusaders allowing six runs and four earned on seven hits in five innings. Caitlin Buckalew went 1 for 3 with the lone Crusader RBI.
Game two was all Central Methodist until Evangel put up two runs in the sixth to cut the Eagles' lead to 6-2. Central Methodist answered with two of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Evangel would not go quietly scoring three more runs in the seventh before Rebel Robinson struck out to end the game. Julie Blevins took the loss for Evangel allowing six earned runs on six hits in five innings. Cassidy Gillhan, Caitlin Buckalew, and Katie Tollefson all had two hits for Evangel in the loss.
The Crusaders dropped to 9-10 on the season and 2-4 in the Heart of America conference. Central Methodist improved to 25-6 overall and a perfect 6-0 in league play.
Evangel will be in action again Tuesday, April 7th at Baker. Game time is 2:00pm for the doubleheader in Baldwin City, Kansas.
