SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel softball team won its third straight with a non-conference sweep over Oklahoma Wesleyan, 7-3 and 10-2, Saturday afternoon.
The Crusaders were able to avenge a pair of one-run losses to the Eagles in the season opener on Saturday. An early run for Evangel gave the Crusaders a one-run lead until Oklahoma Wesleyan tallied two runs in the top of the fourth inning taking a 2-1 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Crusaders would break the game wide-open scoring six runs to take a 7-2 lead.
Evangel tallied 10 hits as Michelle Sheppard, Caitlin Buckalew, Megan Washam and Jackie Hoffmeier all earned multiple hits. Both Buckalew and Washam tallied two RBI for the Crusaders while Buckalew, Gillihan and Hoffmeier finished with a triple in the win.
Michaela Tolliver scattered nine hits to earn her second win of the season.
The Crusaders pounded out 10 runs on 10 hits to earn a run rule victory in the second game of the double-header.
Kyra Parker earned her second win of the season as she allowed just three hits in five innings in the circle. Parker walked none, as she did not allow an earned run while striking out seven.
Evangel will travel to mid-Missouri for a double-header on Tuesday at Stephens College. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
