Complete Games Propel Softball to Sweep at MidAmerica Nazarene

OLATHE, Kan. – The Evangel softball team swept a pair of Heart of America games, 6-5 and 6-2, Tuesday afternoon at MidAmerica Nazarene.

The Crusaders earned their third sweep of the season with double-header wins over Missouri Valley and Oklahoma Wesleyan earlier this month.

In game one, Evangel got a combined effort in the circle from Michaela Tolliver and the offense. Tolliver earned the win going the distance and scattering eight hits.

Offensively, the Crusaders were led by Michelle Sheppard who finished 3-for-3 with three runs scored in the leadoff position. She also stole two bases along with Megan Washam.

Evangel tallied 13 hits in the game as Kiara Carrier finished 2-for-4 with three RBI as Allison Davis also added two RBI.

Another solid pitching performance in game two along with a big sixth inning helped Evangel cruise to a 6-2 victory.

Kyra Parker also scattered eight hits as the Pioneers scored just two runs although none were earned. She also walked none and struck out four to earn her seventh win of the season.

At the plate, Davis against finished 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI as Cassidy Gillihan also recorded multiple hits. Both of Davis' hits were for extra bases finishing with a double and a triple.

Evangel heads to Iowa Friday and Saturday to complete a 10-game road trip at Clarke and Mount Mercy. The Crusaders will take on Clarke on Friday with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. from Dubuque, Iowa.
