SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel softball team continued to roll Friday sweeping Graceland 10-2 in a run-rule victory and 5-2 in game two, moving its win streak to seven straight.
The Crusaders continued to roll in game one, behind a complete team effort that saw Evangel put the game away with a six-run third inning. Offensively, Evangel recorded 10 hits and Michaela Tolliver held Graceland to just three hits in the five-inning victory.
Tolliver allowed just two runs while walking none and striking out two for the win. She also allowed just three hits.
At the plate, Megan Washam continued to swing a hot bat going 2-for-3 with five RBIs as both hits were doubles. Cassidy Gillihan, Caitlin Buckalew and Allison Davis each finished with two hits as well, with Buckalew adding a pair of RBIs.
In the second game, Evangel got another solid effort in the circle from Kyra Parker who scattered six hits and struck out seven. She walked two and allowed two runs, which were her first earned runs over the last 27 innings pitched.
Caitlin Buckalew helped give the Crusaders an early lead with her second home run of the season. Buckalew finished 3-for-3 with three RBIs at the plate.
Gillihan also recorded a pair of RBIs as every starter but two recorded a hit in the second game victory.
Evangel looks to continue its win streak Saturday against Peru State. First pitch from Crusader Field is scheduled for 1 p.m.
