OSKALOOSA, Iowa – The bats for the Evangel softball team fell cold in Iowa Friday evening, falling 4-1 and 3-2, at William Penn in conference play.

William Penn took a 3-1 lead after the first inning and out-hit Evangel 11-7 in game one. The Crusaders were held scoreless over the final six innings while leaving 10 runners stranded during the game.

Michaela Tolliver scattered 11 hits and was charged with all four runs in the loss. Tolliver did not allow a walk and struck out one in the circle.

Caitlin Buckalew earned the only RBI for Evangel while Cassidy Gillihan and Hannah Trabucco each finished 2-for-3.

In the second game, a seventh-inning rally fell short for Evangel as William Penn again out-hit the Crusaders 11-5.

Kyra Parker fell to 10-4 on the season as she was charged with all three runs after also striking out two.

Lauren Chambers led Evangel in the second game going 2-for-3. Buckalew added another RBI in the top of the seventh as the Crusaders' rally was cut short.

The double-header sweep ended a nine-game win streak for Evangel. It was also just the second time this season the Crusaders have been swept since a season-opening loss at Oklahoma Wesleyan.

Evangel continues its Iowa road trip Saturday at No. 20 Grand View. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
