SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel University softball team fell twice Friday afternoon on senior day, 2-0 and 9-0, against Baker in Heart of America action.

The double-header could likely be the regular season finale for the Crusaders, as Saturday's games against Benedictine have been canceled. The losses on Friday snapped a 17-game home win streak for Evangel that went all the way back to the home opener on February 17 against No. 9 Morningside.

Friday's first game saw a pair of outstanding pitching performances as Olivia Brees was able to out-duel Michaela Tolliver in a 2-0 win. Both pitchers went the distance as Tolliver allowed five hits and Brees allowed just three.

Baker was able to push a run across in the fourth and added a second run in the top of the sixth as Brees held Evangel scoreless. The Baker pitcher struck out 12 Crusaders while Tolliver struck out three in her half of work.

In game two, the Baker pitching staff stymied the Evangel offense again with a 9-0 shutout. It was the first time this season Evangel was shutout in back-to-back games.

Baker was able to score a run in the first and another in the third inning on an unearned run. After two runs for the Wildcats in the fourth, Baker pushed across five in the top of the sixth inning to reach the run-rule victory.

Kyra Parker was tabbed with the loss striking out two and walking one. Parker sits just outside the top 27 for strikeouts in a single-season and her 15 wins are ninth best heading into next week's tournament.

Michelle Sheppard recorded two of the six hits for Evangel in game two as the Crusaders left six on base. The only extra base hit in the double-header came in game one on a Caitlin Buckalew double.

Evangel will wait to find its postseason tournament seeding as the rest of the conference concludes the regular season Saturday and Sunday.

Evangel awaits its tournament seeding next week in the Heart Postseason Softball Championships starting Friday, May 4. The Tournament will run through Saturday, May 6, in St. Joseph, Missouri at Heritage Park.
