LAMONI, Iowa – The Evangel softball team rallied to split at Graceland on Saturday falling 8-0 in game one before taking game two, 12-4.
The Crusaders struggled to get the bats going in game one as Graceland blanked Evangel, 8-0 in six innings.
The Crusaders pounded 19 hits and scored 12 runs as four players finished with three hits.
Graceland tied the game in the bottom of the third inning, but Evangel answered with three runs in the fourth, four runs in the fifth and another run in the sixth inning.
Abby Emmitt earned the win going four innings and allowing just three hits while striking out six. Taylor Kister again came on in relief to pitch the final two innings without allowing a hit and adding four strikeouts.
Evangel heads to Baker and Benedictine next Friday and Saturday in Heart South Division action. First pitch on Friday against the Wildcats is scheduled for 2 p.m.
