SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A pitchers' duel highlighted a walk-off upset for the Evangel softball team Thursday afternoon against Central Methodist.

Evangel won 1-0 in the finale after falling 10-2 in game one with the Eagles.

Game 2

Sophomore pitcher Abby Emmitt locked in a pitchers' duel with Central Methodist's Keighlan Cronin in the second game of a South Division Heart double-header. In the end, it was Emmitt taking a 1-0 win as Anah Noble punched an infield single to score the game winner.

Emmitt allowed just two hits and struck out seven in the win. She retired eight straight Eagles after giving up the first hit of the game in the third inning after getting the first two outs of the sixth inning. Working around a walk and a single, Emmitt would leave the runners on base keeping the game scoreless.

Allison Davis led off the bottom of the seventh with a single to right as Taylor Good came in to pinch run. Good would move to second on a sacrifice bunt and then to third on a wild pitch.

With two outs though, it was Noble who would squeeze a single through the left side to score Good and give the Crusaders a 1-0 win.

Game 1

The first game saw Central Methodist build a 4-0 lead after two runs in the second inning and two more runs in the third. Evangel left five runners on base including two in the bottom of the sixth after the Eagles added five runs in the top of the inning.

Allison Davis drove home the only two runs for the Crusaders with a double in the sixth inning pulling within 10-2. However, Evangel was unable to score any more runs with the game ending in the sixth.

Bridget Rippe scattered seven hits through five innings before Emma Hill pitched 0.2 of an inning and Taylor Mathis entering as the third Evangel pitcher of the game.
