SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Senior Michelle Sheppard broke the single-season stolen base record with four stolen bases in the two-game split against Mount Mercy.

Game One
The Crusaders saw themselves in an early hole as they gave up three runs in the first inning. In the third inning, the Crusaders were able to get on the board with a run after an Ali Raley RBI double. The Mustangs scored another run in the top of the fifth, while the Crusaders responded in the bottom half of the inning with Michelle Sheppard scoring on and RBI groundout from Cailey Barnes. The Mustangs then added two more in the sixth to take a 6-2 lead.

Barnes and Raley each had one RBI in the game, with Raley tallying the games only two-bagger.

Sheppard had two stolen bases in the game.

Rippe pitched a complete game, giving up six runs off ten hits, striking out five and walking one. The Crusaders defense committed three errors in the game.

Game Two
Again, the Crusaders found themselves in an early hole as they gave up three runs in the first inning. This time, however, the offense responded and outscored the Mustangs 9-3.

The Crusaders scored one run in the bottom of the first after Sheppard scored off a Kami Holt sac fly. They scored another run in the bottom of the third off Anah Noble's RBI groundout. In the fourth inning, the Crusaders plated three after Sheppard hit a 2-RBI double, and then Noble scored after a wild throw by the pitcher.

In the fifth, the Crusaders plated two more runs after pinch hitter Raley hit a 2-RBI double. Finally, the Crusaders scored their final two runs in the sixth after Holt hit an RBI triple and Allison Davis hit an RBI double.

Barnes went 3-3 in the game. Sheppard and Davis both went 2-4 and each had a double.

Sheppard had two stolen bases in the game.

Abby Jo Emmitt pitched a complete game giving up three runs off three hits, striking out four and walking four.
