SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The 2019 Springfield Bracket Opening Round for the NAIA Softball Championships was revealed Tuesday with four teams that will take aim at the Killian Softball Complex for the 2019 NAIA National Championship.
The No. 2 overall ranked Marian University from Indianapolis, Indiana claimed the top seed in the region and will play No. 4 seed Indiana University-Southeast in the first round. IU-Southeast will make its way from the Louisville area to face Marian who enters at 47-0.
The No. 2 seed in the bracket will be the Heart of America Champion, Baker Wildcats. The Wildcats will take on the No. 4 seed Midland University from Fremont, Nebraska, who won the Great Plains Athletic Conference regular season title.
The bracket will feature two of the nation's top pitchers with Marian's Breena Smith who boasts an incredible 0.48 ERA and 23-0 record. Baker touts the nation's strikeout leader Olivia Brees who crossed the 400 strikeout mark with a 0.74 ERA and leads the nation with 33 wins and just two losses on the year.
IU-Southeast won the River States Conference Tournament Championship after knocking off Rio Grande (Ohio) University.
Tickets for the tournament are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 13-6, and 5-under are free. Group discounts of 10 or more for teams or organizations are $5.

Evangel University is also the host of 2019 NAIA Softball World Series, May 23-29. Tournament action will take place at the Killian Softball Stadium in Springfield, Mo.
