FAYETTE, Mo. – The Evangel women's basketball team saw its two-game win streak stopped Monday night in an 87-45 loss at No. 23 Central Methodist in Heart of America Conference action.

A cold night from the field saw the Crusaders shoot just 21 percent in the game after taking a 2-0 lead the Eagles responded with an 11-0 run. Central Methodist led just 23-17 after the first quarter but outscored Evangel 18-6 in the second period to lead 41-23 at halftime.

The three-point line was also unkind to the Crusaders where they finished 2-for-21 in the loss. Eight assists were also the second-fewest assists for Evangel this season after tallying just three assists earlier in the year in a loss to MidAmerica Nazarene.

Brianna Vogts led Evangel with a second consecutive double-double finishing with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Mackenzie Farmer and Bayley Harman each added eight points each.

The Eagles were led by Tatiana Grant who finished with a double-double tallying 22 points and 10 boards off the bench.

The Central Methodist defense also took advantage of the cold shooting from Evangel forcing 19 turnovers with 13 steals.

Evangel returns home Thursday night in a rematch with the Baker Wildcats. The Crusaders look to avenge a five-point loss from November at Baker. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
