DES MOINES, Iowa – The Evangel women's soccer team saw its season come to an end Saturday with a 2-1 loss at Grand View.

The Crusaders took an early lead in the sixth minute on a Bekah Dinwiddie goal. However, midway through the first half, Grand View tied it in the 24th minute on a goal from Haley Waseskuk.

The game remained deadlocked at 1-1 before the Vikings scored with 10 minutes left in the match. Ella Ritchie broke the tie in the 80th minute.

Caitlyn Cox recorded eight saves in the net for Evangel as the Crusaders finished with 11 shots in the match.

Evangel ended its season just one game behind Clarke for the final spot in the Heart Postseason Tournament. The Crusaders continued to improve in just year three of the program seeing an increase in wins, goals scored, and goals allowed.

Alyson Reinold and Amber Ellis led the team with six goals each as Reinold finished with 19 points on the season. The goals tie the single-season record with Rebekah Pell's six goals in the inaugural 2015 season.

Reinold also broke Pell's single-season points record and the assists record with seven. The previous assists' record was set last season by Natalie Henry.

As a team, Evangel set single-season for goals, assists, points, and shots on the offensive end of the field. The goalkeepers also help set team records for goals against average, and fewest goals allowed.
