As excitement building for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup Final on Sunday, the Evangel women's soccer team is making plans to be in attendance.
Fifth-year head coach Bruce Deaton and the Crusaders are embarking on a once-in-a-lifetime trip Friday, July 5, as the team starts a 14-day mission trip through France.
After leaving from the St. Louis airport on July 5, the team will arrive in Lyon, France, Saturday. On Sunday, the team is hopeful to join the United State Women's National Team at Stadium-Parc Olympique for the World Cup Final in which Team USA is the defending champions. While it may seem like the highlight of the trip will come in the first 24 hours, Coach Bruce and the Evangel women's team will just be starting their true work in France.
In a partnership with International Sports Federation, the team will travel to Monaco on Monday before arriving in Nice on Tuesday, July 9, where a refugee ministry at the Community Care Mission in the Port City of Nice. In addition to helping with the refugee ministry, the team will be preparing for a large youth event starting Monday, July 15 in St. Paul de Vence and ending Thursday, July 18.
The team will make its trek back to the United States on Friday, July 19, and arrive back in St. Louis later that evening.
