SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Crusaders women's soccer remain unbeaten in conference play with a 2-1 win over Culver-Stockton on Friday night.
The Crusaders scored quickly to start the game when Brooke Pigneri was able to slot home a pass from Bianca Biffert in the third minute. The Wildcats, however, didn't take too long to respond when they were able to equalize in the 12th minute. It would then be back-and-forth for the rest of the half until Alyson Reinold was able to break the deadlock with an unassisted run and score.
The second half was end-to-end action, but neither team was able to score and the game ended 2-1 in favor of the Crusaders.
"What an awesome way to celebrate our 11 seniors! I love how this team just continues to grow and play together. We were able to gain a 2-1 advantage off of two beautiful goals this evening from Brooke Pigneri and Alyson Reinold. The ladies dug in deep and handled all the pressure that Culver put on us in that second half. Another great team win! So proud of this team and what they keep doing every day," Head coach Bruce Deaton said following the game.
The Crusaders will hit the road on Tuesday, Oct. 8, to Marshall, Mo. to take on Missouri Valley. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
