FAYETTE, Mo. – The Evangel women's soccer team was shutout by No.5 Central Methodist 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon in the semifinals of the Heart Conference Tournament.
"While the outcome today was not as we had hoped in the semi-finals of the conference tournament, I can't think of anything other than how incredibly proud of this group of young ladies I am! We have done some amazing things this year and have elevated the standards of this program to new heights. What a blessing these players are to me, especially the seniors who have led this group throughout the season in a variety of ways. If this ends up being the wrap to our season, I can't be anything else but excited for what the future holds for Evangel women's soccer," Head Coach Bruce Deaton said following the loss.
The Crusaders spent most of the game on defense, but they did have a few opportunities on offense. They finished with six shots (five on goal) and were led by Alyson Reinold who had two, while Bianca Biffert, Amber Ellis, and Grace Wright all had one.
Caitlyn Cox and Abbey Schmidt split time in the goal with Cox making three saves and allowing three goals, while Schmidt had two saves and allowed four goals.
The Crusaders will wait to hear if they have made the NAIA Postseason Tournament.
