Evangel Sweeps Both Matches at the Silver Dollar City Tournament

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel volleyball team won both of its matches today at the Silver Dollar City Tournament in Point Lookout, Missouri, with wins over Hannibal-LaGrange, 3-0, and a 3-1 victory over SAGU.

The Crusaders won the first match against Hannibal-La Grange in straight sets. Heather Gahm led the way for the Crusaders with 13 kills, followed by Kara Finkbiner with 9. Gahm paced the offense again with a .409 hitting percetngage.

In their second match, the Crusaders held off SAGU 3-1. Once again Heather Gahm led the way with 15 kills, while Bridget Petersen added 12 kills.

The defense was solid against the Lions as Emma Lander tallied five blocks while three other Crusaders added double figure blocks.

The Crusaders will continue in the Silver Dollar City Tournament Friday playing two matches. They open play against Bellevue at 9 a.m., followed by a 1 p.m. start with host College of the Ozarks at 1 p.m.
