POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. – The Evangel volleyball team split its matches today at the Silver Dollar City Tournament in Point Lookout, Missouri, with a win in the early game over No. 19 Bellevue. The Crusaders dropped the late game to College of the Ozarks.

The win over the nationally ranked Bruins is the first for the Evangel volleyball team this season with the 'sweet victory'. St. George's Donuts is a proud sponsor of all Crusader victories over nationally ranked opponents.

The Crusaders won the first match against No. 19 Bellevue 3-2. Heather Gahm led the way for the Crusaders with 16 kills, followed by Bridget Petersen with 14. Petersen paced the offense with a .429 hitting percentage.

In their second match, the Crusaders lost in five sets to College of the Ozarks. Evangel led the Bobcats late in the fourth and fifth sets but was unable to put away the host team falling 20-18 in the final set.

Tori Lowry led the way with 18 kills, followed by Heather Gahm with 17. Once again, Bridget Petersen paced the offense with a .407 hitting percentage as setter Victoria Fishback tallied 54 assists.

In the loss, Emma Lander tallied while 5 blocks, while Lowry and Petersen each had 3.

The Crusaders will play in the Bellevue Labor Day Classic on Aug. 31- Sept. 1 in Bellevue, Nebraska.
