BELLEVUE, Neb. – The Evangel volleyball dropped a pair of back and forth matches Friday at the Bellevue Premier Classic losing 3-1 to Providence and 3-1 to Morningside.
Evangel battled back from a 0-2 deficit to win the third set in game one of the tournament, however, Providence rallied for a 3-1 victory.
Heather Gahm led the Crusaders with 13 kills while Tori Lowry finished with 11 kills. Gahm posted a .276 hitting percentage while Lowry finished with a .346 percentage as Evangel made seven fewer errors than their opponents.
In the afternoon match, Evangel and Morningside went back and forth in the first three sets before the Mustangs pulled ahead with a 21-25 victory in the fourth set.
The Crusaders were unable to find a rhythm offensively as Gahm was the only Evangel player to finish in double-figure kills with 13.
Defensively, Evangel tallied just five blocks as Morningside hit .289 as a team. The Mustangs also committed just two errors in the third set to finish with a .483 hitting percentage as Emma Gerber led the way with 22 kills.
Evangel closes out the action in Nebraska against Lawrence Tech in the first match before finishing with IU-South Bend.
