SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel volleyball team continued to flex in its home tournament Saturday as the Crusader did not drop a single set with a pair of 3-0 wins over Williams Baptist and Judson in tournament action.
Evangel posted its most dominant performance of the season to date, with a 3-0 win over Williams Baptist on Saturday morning. The Crusaders won in three straight sets and held the Eagles to single-digit points in the first and third sets, as WBU still only scored 14 in the second set.
Tori Lowry led the Crusaders with 11 kills and a .444 hitting percentage as Evangel did not commit an error in the first set. Heather Gahm added 10 kills while Victoria Fishback paced the offense with 20 assists and Iva Jelovac added 11.
The Crusaders were in control in the tournament's final match from start to finish with a 3-0 sweep. The win gives Evangel a six-match win streak heading into the heart of conference action next Tuesday.
Gahm turned in one of the more impressive matches of her career with 17 kills and a .577 hitting percentage. She added two blocks in the win as well.
Petersen added 11 kills, while Fishback paced the offense with 40 assists and 11 digs for a double-double.
Evangel continues home action as Heart of America action heats up Tuesday against Benedictine. First serve from the Ashcroft Center is scheduled for 7 p.m.
