SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel volleyball team saw its six-match win streak snapped Tuesday night against Benedictine with a 3-0 loss in Heart of America Athletic Conference action.

The Crusaders hung with the Ravens in each set, however, Evangel was unable to take advantage of mistakes by the visitors. Evangel hit under the .200 mark for the first time in six matches and the first time below .185 since a five-set loss to Lawrence Tech.

Evangel was led offensively by Heather Gahm with 15 kills and a .324 hitting percentage. Bridget Petersen and Kara Finkbiner also finished in double-figure kills with 12 and 10 respectively.

The defense struggled with only four team blocks and Jorden Stacey was the only Crusader with double-figure digs. Emma Lander added three blocks for Evangel in the loss.

Benedictine was led by Fleur Wesselink with 17 kills as the Ravens did not commit an error in the first set. The Ravens committed just four errors in third and deciding set where they also posted a .344 hitting percentage.

Evangel continues home action on Friday against Baker University. First serve against the Wildcats is scheduled for 7 p.m. from the Ashcroft Center.
