SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The comeback Crusaders rallied back again for a 3-2 win over Clarke Friday night in Heart of America Athletic Conference volleyball action.

Evangel dropped the first two sets but rallied back with dominant fourth and fifth sets to steal the win. The Crusaders also handed Clarke their first conference loss of the season as Evangel snapped a two-match skid. 

How It Happened

  • Evangel hit over .300 in the fourth and fifth sets while holding Clarke to a .061 percentage in the fourth set.
  • Heather Gahm and Bridget Petersen paced the Crusaders with 19 and 17 kills each.
  • Peterson was solid on offense hitting .425 and adding five blocks on the defensive side of the net.
  • Victoria Fishback tallied 53 assists to help pace the Evangel offense.
  • Jorden Stacey was also solid on the defensive side with 27 digs.

Game Notes

  • Evangel won its third consecutive five-set match.
  • The Crusaders have come back from down 0-2 in all three of the five-set wins
  • After posting its lowest hitting percentage, Evangel rallied back with a .221 hitting percentage.
  • The nine-team blocks were the third most for the Crusaders this season.
