Evangel Volleyball Fights off William Penn in 3-2 Conference Victory

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel volleyball team returned home Friday night and snapped a three-match skid with a five-set victory, 3-2, over William Penn in conference action.

The Crusaders dropped the first match before rallying to take a 2-1 lead. The Statesmen would battle back to win the fourth set as Evangel held off a gritty William Penn squad, 15-11 in the final set.

Bridget Petersen and Heather Gahm tallied 19 kills in the win respectively.

Defensively, Emma Lander and Lisabella Lemusu each finished with three blocks while Jorden Stacey tallied 33 digs. Victoria Fishback also finished with 15 digs to help Evangel earn the five-set victory.

Jordan Carter led the way for William Penn with 13 kills.
