BELLEVUE, Neb. – Evangel swept its final day at the Labor Day Classic in Bellevue, Neb., defeating York and Lourdes in straight sets.  

Game 1: Evangel 3, York 0

Evangel came out strong and stayed on the front foot the entire match.

Bridget Petersen led the offense with 15 kills, followed by Kristen Johnson and Gabby Massengale with 10 kills. McKenna Miller was efficient spreading the ball around as she had 44 assists in the match.

The defense was led by Eryn Russell who had 27 digs, followed by Tori Lowry with 13 and Sydney Dunavent with 10.  

Game 2: Evangel 3, Lourdes 0

The Crusaders continued their hot hitting in the second game of the day, hitting .250 for the match.

Petersen had ten kills, Massengale had 7, Regan Ansley had six, and Johnson, Ciera Reyes, and Daisy Eklund all had five. Miller again passed the ball all over the court and had 34 assists.

Again, Russell led the defense with 19 digs, Dunavant had 9, and Makayla Stephen had 8.

What's Next

Evangel will keep the roads hot as they will travel to Ottawa, Kan. on Tuesday, Sept 3 to take on No.25 Ottawa University at 7 p.m.
