Evangel Volleyball Grinds to 3-2 Road Win at Mount Mercy

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Evangel volleyball team rebounded Saturday afternoon to grind out a 3-2 win at Mount Mercy in Heart Conference action.

The Crusaders got back on the winning track and improved to 6-5 in conference play and 19-7 overall.

Offensively, Evangel was able to get clutch points when needed in addition to hitting at a .412 clip in the fifth set. Regan Ansley tallied 14 kills for Evangel and a hit. 400 to lead the way, while Kristen Johnson and Daisy Eklund added 13 and 12 kills each.

Both setters helped run the offense to an equal pace as well with Victoria Fishback and McKenna Miller finishing with 26 assists.

Eryn Russell led the way with 34 digs with Tori Lowry adding 20 digs and nine kills. Bridget Petersen also helped on the defensive side of the net with five blocks, while Johnson tallied four blocks.

Evangel returns home Tuesday to start its final homestand of the regular season with four straight matches at the Ashcroft Center. The Crusaders host conference leader Central Methodist at 7:30 p.m.
